For those spectators who may be wondering what the third mile of the parkside course looks like; the one that the runners describe as a series of rolling hills that suck the life out of your legs... the picture on the left is nothing like the back stretch at parkside.
Seriously though, in the men's race Dennis took the lead from the start, led the whole way and finished first in 16:26. He looks to be back in shape after his summer off. Andrew and Doug decided to start a litle slower so they could kick harder however a 5:40 first mile was too slow and they were never able to close the gap. The team finished second to Waukesha west by three points. There was a crowd around Brian and David at the finish and fifteen places were awarded in less than three seconds. That group included both our fourth and fifth runners as well as the fourth and fifth runners from West. It was that close.
Individual numbers looked like this: Walsh --16:26; Jake--17:03; Andrew-- 17:16; Douglas-- 17:18; David--17:41; Brian--17:43; Bassen--18:58; Larsen--19:20; Sam 19:26; Flanders--19:52.
On the Womens side, Claire also led from the start and won easily in 14:41. Becky wayman was next at 16:22, followed by Colleen (17:09), Devon ( 17:12), Becca ( 17:18), Devin ( 17:27), and Katja (17:39).
The weather couldn't have been better.
