Conference results

There aren't any results posted yet that I can find, but I remember a few things.

In the women's varsity race, Claire ran 14:19 and finished more than a minute ahead of second place, she was followed on the team by Becky and Becca. After the race coach K compared place cards with the Pewaukee coach and it looked like we had tied through fifth place and then edged them with our sixth runner to win by one. However at the awards ceremony Pewaukee was announced as the winner. The coaches demanded a recount and a huddle of anxious looking coaches and officials reviewed the numbers. In the end the call on the podium was affirmed and the bar went to Pewaukee. No official explanation was given at the time. However we have the inside scoop. Dominican High School brought seven runners but only ran three of them in the varsity race. That constitutes an incomplete team and so their runners scores do not count for team standings. Their top girl placed second, so with her score removed everyone under her gained a point. Claire however was ahead of her and so was not included, thus giving Pewaukee the one point win. A rare case of losing by winning. The rule is correct, the question remains whether or not teams should have to field a full varsity team if they have enough bodies. It was still a great race and Pewaukee ran well.

In the men's marquee event Dennis took first easily in 16:3x something and Andrew placed second in 17:02 ( still looking to break 17:00 for the first time). The men won the event but post race concern centered around Jake who has been nursing a sore leg and didn't finish. He was able to dance later though and should be good for sectionals and state.

In the boy's JV race Scandinavian sensation Christian L. kicked for the win edging out Andrew S. who has been battling injuries all season and has done most of his conditioning in the Pool and on a bike.

In the girl's JV race Heidi broke 21 minutes, that's over nine minutes faster than her first race of the season and a minute faster than last week. Good job Heidi!

I'll put up actual numbers when I get them.
